Truckers' Strike
The Danish truckers have blocked movement on the bridge aside Sweden and Norway, and also in ports which connect Denmark with other Scandinavian countries. Thus drivers make the protest against the new rules of the European Union limiting working hours and entering obligatory breaks for rest by transportation of cargoes on cars.
According to the drivers’ press-secretary Per Thuesen, the truckers’ strike can be prolonged up to Christmas that can seriously affect commodity circulation between Denmark and other countries. He also has warned, that 200 lorries are ready to block all boundary posts, and also ferries if their requirements will not be accepted.
As an example for absurdity of the new law truckers result a case, when one of drivers has been fined on 50 thousand Danish crones (almost 10 thousand dollars) that has forgotten to press the special button, which is necessary for pressing to show, that the driver has a break.
